On Sunday, April 5, Christians celebrate Resurrection Sunday, a holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion. Although many people call it “Easter Sunday,” there is no connection between the two. Easter was actually a celebration of spring that ancient Roman Catholics mixed in with Jesus’ resurrection to make Christianity more appealing to non-Christians.
Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection is the ultimate proof of God’s love, sacrificing his own son for our sins. To celebrate this great sacrifice, we’ve gathered some quotes to remember Jesus’ miraculous resurrection, saving us from our sins, demonstrating that we can indeed be promised an eternal home in Heaven with Jesus as our Savior.
1. “Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.” -- Martin Luther
2. “Here is the amazing thing about Easter; the Resurrection Sunday for Christians is this, that Christ in the dying moments on the cross gives us the greatest illustration of forgiveness possible.” -- T.D. Jakes
3. “All your losses will be made up to you in the resurrection, provided you continue faithful. By the vision of the Almighty I have seen it.” -- Joseph Smith, Jr.
4. “While the resurrection promises us a new and perfect life in the future, God loves us too much to leave us alone to contend with the pain, guilt and loneliness of our present life.” -- Josh McDowell
5. “We live and die; Christ died and lived!” -- John Stott
6. “The resurrection of Jesus changes the face of death for all His people. Death is no longer a prison, but a passage into God’s presence. Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there.” -- Clarence W. Hall
7. “The resurrection completes the inauguration of God's kingdom. It is the decisive event demonstrating that God's kingdom really has been launched on earth as it is in heaven.” -- N.T. Wright
