Different Republicans are heavily criticizing the Department of Justice (DOJ) for discussing a note left by Ryan Wesley Routh, the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump earlier this month, which offers $150,000 to anyone who can "complete the job."

"Why is Kamala's DOJ publicizing Ryan Wesley Routh putting a bounty on my dad's head???" said Donald Trump Jr. in a publication on X. Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene echoed the argument, saying that the "DOJ, which is trying to put Trump in prison, is now offering a bounty on Trump's head by releasing this." "Why else would they release this?" she added.

The note became public after the DOJ also informed that Routh also had a list of dates and venues where Trump would appear. It is part of a detention memo filed ahead of a hearing in which the body is set to argue that he should remain behind bars as the case moves forward.

According to The Associated Press, the note was placed in a box dropped off at the home of an unspecified person months ago. The person didn't open the box until after the arrest of Routh last Sunday. It also had ammo, a metal pipe, building materials, phones and letters. The person contacted authorities after opening the box.

One of the notes seemed to contemplate the scenario in which the attempt was not successful: "This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job," read a passage of the note, according to prosecutors.

Routh was arrested near the e Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on September 15.

Routh was discovered by a Secret Service agent who was walking the perimeter of the golf club when he saw what appeared to be the end of a rifle jutting out from the tree line. The agent shot in Routh's direction, which led to him fleeing the area in a Nissan vehicle.

Police found a digital camera, two bags, a loaded SKS-style 7.62 caliber rifle with a scope, and a black plastic bag containing food, according to the complaint. The serial number on the rifle was reportedly "obliterated and unreadable to the naked eye." He was later detained.

Routh is being charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
