Reggae music is mourning the loss of a great performer. Cedric Brooks, an influential saxophonist and renowned reggae artist died after being incapacitated in 2010 following a cardiac arrest.
The 70-year-old musician had been in a hospital ever since the incident, and was only able to communicate via small gestures.
He began his music career in the late 1960's as a studio musician, playing in songs such as Burning Spear's "Door Peep." He also teamed up with trumpet player David Madden, releasing hits that included "Money Maker" and "Mystic Mood."
Brooks also collaborated with many legends, including Count Ossie and the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari and The Skatalites, and he had his own band called Light of Saba.
He is survived by four sisters and seven children.
