Reddit user Signal-Replacement85's post about banned slang in their mother's high school classroom quickly went viral. Reddit

A Reddit user shared a picture of their mom's whiteboard listing all the Gen Z words and terms she doesn't allow in her high school classroom—and users couldn't get enough.

Reddit user Signal-Replacement85 uploaded a picture of their mom's whiteboard that says "Banned words in class" and lists words like "On God," which means someone is telling the truth; "Rizz," short for charisma; "Finna," as in going to, and "Sigma," which refers to a cool person.

"My mom teaches sophomores in high school and she has this on her board. I told her it could be a lot worse," the Reddit user captioned their post.

It's unclear where the user's mom teaches, but thousands of Redditors chimed in with their opinions and shared experiences.

"My daughter came back from her first week of kindergarten saying 'bruh' as every fifth word," one user wrote.

One user offered advice on how to actually get the teens to stop using the slang terms, writing, "Incorrect approach. Use the words more than them, the word will die."

A fellow teacher wrote, "High school teacher here, one who had to teach his AP Chemistry students about sigma bonding today. Sigh..."

Meanwhile, some users didn't find any humor in the list.

"This is a sad and failed attempt at controlling the direction of evolving culture," InvaderDust wrote.

Another said it was "funny when people reach a certain age and forget they also used slang at that same age."

Reddit user Due_Mathematician_86 pointed out how some might view the list as racist.

"Unknowingly, this is kind of racist, since most of these terms are from AAVE. Basically policing black language," they added.
