New allegations have surfaced in the Don Omar domestic violence case. It turns out that now the singer’s ex-girlfriend, Rebeca López, is the one being investigated after she dropped the charges against the artist, since it’s being said that she allegedly received $350,000 to do so. According to Univision, besides the money, López also got a Land Rover. Apparently, rumors began circulating Monday morning that López would drop the lawsuit against Don Omar, but it wasn’t until later that she confirmed it by posting a long message on her Facebook page.

After she posted the status update, she technically “disappeared.” Her aunt, Linda Caraballo, filed a missing person’s report the next day, after López left in her aunt’s Ford Expedition on Monday afternoon and never returned home. While authorities were investigating her disappearance, Rebeca called her sister to tell her she was in Washington DC and she had left the vehicle in a parking lot close to the airport. After police seized the vehicle, it was believed she had been at the parking lot to receive the $350,000 and the Land Rover that Don Omar had allegedly given her, but then taken away from her, according to ElVocero.com.

According to the outlet, investigators already knew that someone close to Don Omar was maybe blackmailing López so she would drop the charges. It it’s determined that she received any money, the people who gave it could face criminal charges for intervening with a witness and persuading her to drop the case. “What Rebeca’s conduct might be implying is that she’s having a lot of emotional, economic and family pressures,” said Wanda Vásquez, women’s attorney.

“We must analyze what happened between Friday and Monday that made her take that decision. There could be economic pressures so she does not proceed with the case or to make her feel it is her responsibility,” she told Univisión. Meanwhile, the Justice Department will continue proceedings against Don Omar for domestic violence and illegal weapons possesion even though López withdrew the complaint.
