Real Madrid and Gareth Bale have been linked together since the summer transfer window officially opened in July but as the signing period nears a close, the expected arrival of the 24-year-old at the Bernabeu has hit a snag. With reports noting that a stage was erected at Madrid in anticipation of Bale's arrival - the forward was even in Spain last weekend but recently flew back to England - the thought was that one of the top players in the world was leaving White Hart Lane. Though this is certainly a frustrating time for Real Madrid, those closely associated with the club believe everything will get straightened out.

"There are problems, but I think it will all be straightened out," Real Madrid vice president Fernando Fernandez Tapias said to Yahoo Sports when asked why there is a delay with the transfer. "We thought he'd be here, but he hasn't even flown to Madrid yet, although it could still happen. I think it will happen, but I couldn't swear to it completely. We have to wait, because Spurs are stalling. I have no doubt of Bale's ability but, without Bale, Real is still a force to be reckoned with. We have an amazing team."

The anticipation level for the expected arrival of Gareth Bale has certainly risen over the past few days with merchandisers even selling Real Madrid jersey's with Bale's No. 11 on the back. One of the main reasons the Spurs have been reluctant to ship Bale is because the club fears they won't find an ample replacement for him, leaving the team at a slight disadvantage moving forward with the 2013-2014 season.

Those problems seem to be gone however with Daily Mail indicating that Tottenham has agreed to terms with former A.S. Roma forward Erik Lamela and Steaua Bucharest's Vlad Chiriches. Despite the fact that his club has found ample upgrades, Spurs' boss Andres Villas-Boas said recently that any transactions regarding Gareth Bale will be done by the team chairman.

"At the moment I can't tell you anything because players can have medicals and they can end up in different places," he said recently. "I have no idea what will happen. The chairman is in control of the situation. Whatever happens, happens."

Though a deal between Tottenham and Real Madrid is still expected to unfold, the official announcement could be postponed until mid-September since Gareth Bale has obligations to his native Wales squad as they continue their quest to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
