The Radio Disney Music Awards took place on Saturday night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have been big winners. One Direction, Justin Timberlake and Fifth Harmony also won numerous awards. The awards also paid tribute to Shakira, awarding her the Hero Award for her work with her humanitarian foundation "Pies Descalzos." Gomez won the most awards, taking home three including Song of the Year for her smashing hit single "Come & Get It."
Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and Fifth Harmony all walked away with two awards each. Swift won Best Musical Collaboration for "Everything Has Changed," her duet with Ed Sheeran. Taylor Swift fans, known as "Swifties" won the Fierce Fans award. Demi Lovato won the Best Female Artist award and her "Made in the USA" was ruled the Favorite Roadtrip Song. Fifth Harmony won the Breakout Artist of the Year title and their song called "Me & My Girls" became the Best Song to Rock Out to With Your BFF.
Selena Gomez was not present to accept the awards - rumors suggest that Gomez may be in something of a downward spiral. The Latina singer recently posted some fairly angsty Instagram pictures which mentioned "unhappiness and insecurity are still constant companions," and "enough anger and angst to thrill her fans of old." She is also going through some pretty crazy changes: The former Disney kid fired her managers (her mother and stepfather) and then left her agency CAA for their biggest competitors, WME.
