A recent royal health scare has senior Buckingham Palace aides scrambling to strategize a plan to manage Queen Elizabeth’s workload following her first hospital stay in eight years. The 95-year-old monarch was taken to King Edward VII hospital in Marylebone Wednesday morning after she complained feeling a “little tired” Tuesday evening.
Royal doctors were called to her majesty’s living quarters as palace specialists say she was showing slight signs of a seasonal cold. She took a Covid test results of which confirmed she was not suffering from a coronavirus infection.
According to the Mirror, the Royal Family has come together in support of the Queen after she was forced to cancel a two day trip to Northern Ireland Wednesday morning. While the Queen recuperates from her hospital stay, her children are said to be stepping in to help purge her royal duties with either one of her children or grandchildren accompanying her whenever she appears in public from here on.
Palace officials say this will avoid having to cancel engagements and let down the public in case of any future health issues. Doctors have advised the Queen to take immediate rest for the following days, which she reluctantly accepted.
Princess Anne, 71, who lives an hour and a half away from Windsor stepped in for her mother to hand out awards that included a Damehood of TV presenter and food writer Mary Berry. The monarch’s other children, Prince Charles and Prince Edward are said to be staying more often at Windsor Castle while scandal-stricken Prince Andrew plans to visit his mother in the days to come. Prince William and his family are also rumored to be taking over some of the Queen’s duties but the Palace rebuffed any talk and speculations about the royal pair moving into Windsor.
Sources from Buckingham Palace stated the working Queen remains in good spirits after having spent the night at the hospital in what would be her fifth hospital visit in the past 40 years.
For the next week, several royal engagements in the royal diary are still unchanged as palace courtiers are carefully maintaining and planning her schedule. The Queen is still expected at this time to host a reception in Glasgow slated on Nov. 1 for the Cop26 climate change conference as Palace officials confirm she remains in good spirits.
Royal sources said she does not know any other pace than going full on. She is used to being busy and her latest health scare is a reminder that at the age of 95, she can no longer be expected to be as stringent as she was 20 years ago.
In recent weeks, the Queen has been seen walking with a stick at her public engagements. But, despite rest orders from her doctors, her majesty was spotted driving in her Land Rover around the Windsor estate on Wednesday enjoying her usual walk with her dogs.
