When it comes to the British Royal Family, there are more unsubstantiated facts than true news about its members. Just like the recent cover of In Touch had the headline: “The Queen Ends Reign After 68 Years! Will & Kate Crowned King & Queen!” splashed across its cover with an equally flimsy story inside that relied on the impossibility that the readers will blindly believe the half-baked facts.

So as the story goes, the Queen will supposedly step down from the crown, marking the “end of an era” and “passing the crown on” to Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton. The inside story is backed by a dubious “palace insider” who supports the baseless story with made-up assertions of his own.

“After 68 years, Elizabeth II is stepping down and making Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, king and queen,” this supposed insider shared. “The queen’s life is on hold – she doesn’t know if or when she’ll be able to return to Buckingham Palace or resume her duties, which is why she’s been forced to rethink her position. It wasn’t an easy decision, but in the end, she knew in her heart it was best if William and Kate took over the reins now,” the “source” further added.

The unreliable further made another absurd claim, that Prince Charles, the rightful heir to the throne, is shaken by the news of Prince William ascending the throne as it is a “bitter pill for Charles to swallow.”

“He’s prepared his whole life to be king, and Camilla was dying to be queen – she’s always dreamed of having the $660 million crown jewels at her disposal and is upset they’ll now be going to Kate,” the source said, adding that Queen Elizabeth II has explained to Charles that “William and Kate have what it takes to save the monarchy right now.” There is also the nudge towards the supposed animosity between Prince William and Prince Harry, as the latter is not going to invite them to his coronation and even if he does “who knows if they would accept,” as per the“palace insider.”

Taking upon itself the duty to dismantle this already shaky story, Gossip Cop has put forward some fact-backed points. Well, for starters, there has been not been even a whisper indicating that the queen has stepped down. Many times the Queen has stressed that she will remain the reigning monarch until the day she dies.

Then there is the line of succession that Queen Elizabeth cannot “skip”, even if she wanted to. She can’t name anyone king or queen or determine who will be next in line for the crown, as the power rests with the parliament. So, the news of Prince William getting the throne is, well, as fake as the “palace insider” the tabloid’s story relies on.
