Queen Elizabeth could possibly snub Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during the couple's visit to the United Kingdom in September, royal writer Daniela Elser claimed.
Harry and Meghan will travel to the United Kingdom and Germany in September to join in several charity events. A spokesperson for the pair said on Monday, "Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to go to Manchester for the One Young World Summit event. Then, the couple will travel to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event. Meanwhile, on Sept. 8, Harry and Meghan will return to the UK for the WellChild Awards.
Harry and Meghan, who withdrew from their senior royal duties in 2020, were last seen during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. However, the couple's public appearance was limited. They were not invited to the Buckingham Palace balcony as only senior working royals were included.
Elser questioned the timing of the couple's visit and their anticipated meeting with the Queen. "Will we see Her Majesty make time to see her grandson and granddaughter-in-law?" Elser wrote in News.com.au. "Or could she deliver the snub to end all snubs?"
During Harry and Meghan's visit to the UK, Boris Johnson is also set to exit as the Prime Minister and either Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak will replace him. Elser commented, "Not only will this ensure that the Sussexes high-wattage return will be unceremoniously shunted down the ladder into second or third place on the day, this also sets the stage for a potentially very awkward situation with the Queen."
Meanwhile, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward, the couple should also spend some time with their royal relatives to somehow soften their rocky relationship. Seward told the Mirror, "Harry also needs to keep on good terms with his father, who will have Harry's future in the palm of his hand should the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wish to return to England on a more permanent basis."
It is still uncertain if Archie and Lilibet will join the couple during their hectic schedule in September.
