There have been persistent rumors about the late Duke of Edinburgh's partial disloyalty to Queen Elizabeth for many years.
Unfortunately, the queen apparently received consolation and comfort from two men who provided her the attention she needed during these times.
Radar Online claims that the queen's close association with Richard Burton came to light in the late 1950s, three years after she and Prince Philip exchanged vows.
Burton and the queen met due to her request for his appearance in a Shakespeare theater production at London's Old Vic Theater.
According to royal biographer Nicholas Davies, the queen was mesmerized by Burton's voice's undeniable charm.
When Burton kissed her on both cheeks and hugged her instead of shaking her hand during their backstage talk, the queen couldn't help but fall head over heels for him.
Additionally, the queen reportedly coerced Lord Carnarvon into a close friendship. The queen was merely a teenager when the two allegedly first met. Despite the allegations of Prince Philip's adultery, they grew closer.
"He was someone she could turn to during stressful times," a source said.
Prince Philip has a long history of relationships with numerous women. It's crucial to remember that the veracity of the alleged cheating was never verified.
According to TIME, Prince Philip had relationships with people like cabaret performer Helene Cordet and author Daphne du Maurier. But there was no proof that he was having an affair, either with them or any other lady.
The monarch tolerated Prince Philip's extramarital relationships, according to royal biographer Sarah Bradford in her book "Elizabeth II: Her Life in Our Times."
"The Duke of Edinburgh has had affairs ... full-blown affairs and more than one. He has affairs and the queen accepts it. I think she thinks that's how men are. He's never been one for chasing actresses. His interest is quite different. The women he goes for are always younger than him, usually beautiful, and highly aristocratic," she wrote (via Town & Country).
Royal author Unity Hall added that Prince Philip flaunted his cheeky ways and enjoyed the company of women.
"He likes the company of women. At cocktail parties, he makes a beeline for some good-looking girl and won't be interested in talking to anyone else," he said.
But despite the controversy, the queen still referred to Prince Philip as her strength and her stay.
