Authorities said the incident took place shortly after 1am on Sunday morning when Sasek and multiple members of the Delaware football program were leaving a local pizzeria. Upon seeing the crowd of football players exiting the establishment, a shouting match between Creed and members of Sasek's circle took place.
Through the use of surveillance cameras, authorities were able to watch Sasek approach Michael Creed and grab onto his shoulder. Following a brief verbal exchange, Creed made what appeared to be punching motions toward Sasek and then ran away. Seconds later, the 22-year-old quarterback realized he had been stabbed in the chest and abdomen.
Trevor Sasek was rushed to a nearby hospital shortly after the altercation and underwent surgery. He is now said to be in stable condition.
After continuous investigating, no motive has been discovered but the local police units around the University of Delaware area want students and residents to know the school and its town will remain safe.
"This was an isolated incident," Master Cpl. Gerald Bryda told Delaware Online. "An argument between two people, which led to a fight and stabbing. There was no threat to the students or community at large."

Once Sasek recovers from the multiple stab wounds he suffered Sunday, he'll be expected to compete for the starting quarterback job this season.
The Blue Hens started the 2012 season in perfect fashion, winning their first 4 games while putting up 35-plus points in 3 of those victories. Suffering their first loss of the season to the University of New Hampshire, Delaware was never able to sustain consistent balance on either side of the football as they dropped 6 of their final 7 games, finishing the season at 5-6 overall.
In 2 appearances at quarterback last season, Trevor Sasek attempted and completed two passes for a total of 12 yards and no touchdowns.
The senior will compete with juniors Justin Burns and Trent Hurley for the 2013 starting quarterback position.
