Russian leader Vladimir Putin may be planning to run Ukraine to the ground and take out revenge on Volodymyr Zelensky in a desperate plight to annex Ukraine to Russia. Russian Oligarch, Leonid Nevzlin believes Putin could have initially wanted to attach Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus to Russia but in an interview on Saturday, he said this plan may have already changed.
According to The Times Of Israel, the former oil tycoon said Putin is in the works of attempting to destroy Ukraine based on the “unbearable violence” he has unleashed in the ongoing war. "He destroys Russian-speaking cities, he destroys human beings. This is his way to take revenge — against Ukraine and against Zelenskyy," Nevzlin noted in his interview as he compared the wartime tactics of Adolf Hitler during World War II.
"Did you see the field in Donbas that was sown with bombs and explosives? That's his vision for Ukraine," the tycoon added. He then continued to refer to the numerous unexploded bombs and land mines that remain embedded and littered across the battlegrounds in Ukraine. He also said that the war would most likely carry on for a much longer time than Putin or the world had anticipated.
In an earlier interview with The Times sister site Zman Yisrael done in Hebrew in June, part of the transcript stated his comparison of the current state of Donbas to the wrath of Hitler. “He slaughters Ukrainians and destroys the infrastructure. Anyone involved in the restoration work will have to clear the rubble and build from scratch.” Nevzlin added. “That’s the way Putin fought in Syria, and that’s the way Hitler fought in World War II. That’s his vision for Ukraine,” he said.
Nevzlin, who is an exiled oligarch, fled Russia two decades ago. He is known to be part of an elite Russian group that has broken ties with Putin in protest over the Ukraine invasion. He earlier referred to Putin as a "psychopath” saying the Russian leader was not a state leader but a mafia capo wrapped up in a vengeful and cowardly packaged personality.
