Purse Snatcher Caught on Video Being Body Slammed by Jiu-Jitsu Expert

A jewelry thief in Brazil had his plans foiled by a random passerby who used his physical fighting skills to stop the thief from getting away.

On Saturday, a 27-year-old suspect was captured on CCTV footage walking into a jewelry store in the city of Caraguatatuba, and then giving a backpack to a female clerk within the store which she then proceeded to fill up with money, reported the Daily Mail.

The perpetrator was also seen placing some of the store's expensive merchandise into the backpack before taking off with the bag on foot.

He is then seen being chased down by a stranger from the opposite sidewalk, who confronts him, picks him up and slams him into the ground. Though the suspect held on tightly to his bag of stolen valor, his assailant managed to rip the bag out of his grasp and placed the suspect in an arm lock.

Another witness approached the two to help, after which the passerby handed him the backpack while he continued to restrain the perpetrator.

The suspect was provided with medical attention at a local urgent care center, after which he was taken to a police station and charged with robbery-related offenses.

The video of the incident quickly made rounds on social media, with some users suggesting that the police department formally train officers in mixed martial arts.

"Look at this good example, how about our authorities training the police in martial arts, which would consequently improve their emotional balance, thus providing means of detaining individuals without the use of lethal weapons, etc," said one user.
