Purdue vs. Wisconsin is shaping up to be the prefect trap game. The Badgers are looking for a win after suffering a deflating loss in Tempe, and with Ohio State next week, Wisconsin is looking to gain some momentum. Despite Purdue's impressive defensive line, Melvin Gordon is set to make huge runs on Saturday.
So what will Purdue due to contain the seemingly unstoppable 6-foot-1 Gordon, "He's a big back ... He's fast when he gets on the edge, but he breaks so many tackles," Purdue coach Darrell Hazell said. "We'll have to get him corralled before he gets going." The Boilermakers are set with an impressive defensive line, they are 31st against the run and they have seven sacks on the season already.
Although Gordon isn't Wisconsin's only backfield threat. According to the Washington Post, James White is the FBS' active career rushing leader in yards (2,868) and touchdowns (34). Hazell believes his defense can stop the running threat coming from the No. 24 Badgers, "You've got to get a lot of men near the football, which leaves you vulnerable in other spots," Hazell said. "But you have to try to make them as one dimensional as you can."
Purdue has lost seven straight to Wisconsin dating back to 2004, and most agree that Purdue will have to make some serious strides to beat the Badgers in Saturday's game.
