Sony President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will not use a power brick, but will have the power supply housed within the console itself.

Microsoft on the other hand will use a power brick for the Xbox One system as they did with their Xbox 360 console.

IGN got their hands on a PS4 and made a video detailing what they had found on the console. Very early on in the video, Colin Moriarty talked a little bit about the power situation with the PS4, mentioning that he didn't know if the system might include a power brick.

Quick to remind everyone that it doesn't have one, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Worldwide Studios, said, "The power is inside, so no brick outside." This response also fits right in line with the image of the PS4 box contents, which didn't feature a power brick of any kind.

An image has been making its rounds on the Internet, supposedly showing everything included in the box. In this, you'll find the already confirmed 500GB PS4 console, DualShock 4, HDMI cable, power cord, USB charging cable, headset, and Quick Start Guide.

For some the power brick might seem meaningless and many gamers might not care if their console has a power brick or not but again that depends on the type of gamer you are.
