New dad and seven year military veteran Prince William has decided to end his military career now that his tour of duty with the Royal Air Force is complete. The 31-year-old made the decision not to join up with the British Military for an optional tour of duty. Instead the future King of England had decided to spend his time focusing on royal duties and charity work. Kensington Palace made the announcement on Thursday saying the Prince completed his military service and is now "considering a number of options for public service."
The announcement from Kensington Palace said William is looking to "expand his work in the field of conservation, particularly in respect of endangered species." The palace said the Prince is also looking to work with charities helping veterans and children. For the past seven year Prince William has been an active member of the British Military. He began his career in the Army and then moved on to the Royal Air Force where he piloted rescue helicopters. The Associated Press reports that Prince William fit in well with his military lifestyle. Despite his status as a royal heir William found a measure of privacy while serving in the Army and RAF.
Now that Prince William has finished his military career he and his family, wife Kate and newborn son George will move out of the home they were renting in Anglesey and into apartments in Kensington Palace. In July of this year the Prince and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their first child into the world. Prince George was born July 22 at St. Mary's Hospital. The world waited in anticipation for the announcement saying the heir to the British throne was born.
Prince William's younger brother Prince Harry, now fourth in line to the throne is still an active member of the British Military. In the past he has served in Afghanistan as an apache helicopter pilot. According to Fox News Prince William has participated in 156 search and rescue missions and helped to save 149 people.
