Prince William Defends Prince Harry, Meghan Markle From Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently had a dispute with Queen Elizabeth as they fought for their own communication team. Luckily for the royal couple, Prince William was there to join their camp.

A royal expert recently claimed that Prince William fought for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex getting additional budget for their communication team. According to royal commentator Omid Scobie during the podcast “On Heir,” the plan was for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan to not have their own communication team because Prince Harry is not an heir to the throne. “Prince Harry is not a direct heir to the throne and only a direct heir to the throne can have their own household,” Scobie explained.

As Prince Harry and his wife took a stand, Prince William stepped in to ask Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to give them additional budget so they could build their own communication team. According to Scobie, Prince William understands what having his own team means to Harry and how important Meghan and Harry are for the image and the brand of the royal family.

As a result, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan hired former Freud Communications PR director, Sarah Latham, as their new PR personnel. Lathan has a huge background in politics, having previously worked for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Scobie explained that Latham’s dual heritage as a British-American would be of great help to the royal couple because what they need is someone who understands both cultures.

“And she’s American, dual heritage, very much in line with what the couple is all about and I think it helps having someone that understands both cultures because we’ve seen over time that that difference between the US and UK work culture can cause some issues or frictions in the workplace,” Scobie said.

Although Latham would be a great addition to Prince Harry and Meghan’s team, Scobie revealed that what Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles want is for the royal couple to share their communication team with the Duke of York, Prince Edward and Prince Annie. This is against what the royal couple wants, which is to have a team that is exclusive to them.

Currently, Prince Harry and Meghan’s office is at Buckingham Palace and operates under the close watch of Prince Philip. As previously reported, Queen Elizabeth rejected the royal couple’s request to be completely independent from the rest of the royal family.
