“Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal” premiered in Lifetime on May 27. The drama movie is a continuation of the movie “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance,” which was released early last year, and features an entirely new cast of actors for the sequel. Actor Jordan Whalen — who plays as Prince William — speaks of taking various lengths in order to portray his role properly.

Unlike some of the other actors, Whalen — who hails from Ames, Iowa — had to adopt the English accent. In order to make things simpler for him, a dialect coach was assigned to him for his first two days on set. The star took to the accent rather quickly, even maintaining the dialect after the cameras stopped rolling.

“While on location in Vancouver I stayed in the accent all the time, even when just talking with the hair and make-up department,” the American actor said. “I even managed to fool a couple of the Brits on set, who didn't realise it wasn't my actual accent,” he continued.

The actor after touchdown to Vancouver — where the movie was filmed — reportedly took a trip to the hair and make-up department first. His first priority was to look like Prince William, and so they added the “bald spot” right away. It took about 45 minutes to pluck his head to form the bald spot, and he had to have his hair bleached to add more authenticity to his lack of hair.

“I got to experience life as someone who is balding,” Whalen told Insider.

He was also reported to have watched almost 75 hours of footage of the Duke of Cambridge in order to study the prince’s mannerisms. Apart from royal decorum, which every royal follows, Whalen noticed how William is more reserved in his interactions with Kate Middleton, as compared to Prince Harry and his interactions with Meghan Markle. Whalen also picked up a mannerism of the Prince: William’s lip pursing.

“It's one thing to see it, and another to try and understand why he does it,” the actor noted. “It's an unconscious thing — we all have them. But you wonder, was he uncomfortable, or was he reminding himself of etiquette in that moment?”
