Bronx-born Latin singer Prince Royce is the top nominee for this year's Premios Juventud. The 23-year-old musician captured 10 nominations when nominees for the Hispanic Youth Awards were announced via live stream on Univision.
Royce's nominations include Catchiest Tune, Favorite Video, Favorite Ringtone, and Favorite Ballad for the U.S. Latin Billboard hit "Incondicional," and Favorite Album for "PHASE II," the follow-up album to Royce's breakthrough 2010 eponymous debut. The songwriter also shares a Perfect Collaboration nomination with Thalia for their song "Te Prediste Mi Amor."
Royce's first two albums contained a mix of Spanish and English songs, but a recent signing with Sony will have the artist releasing Spanish-language albums through Sony Music Latin while RCA Records will handle English-language album distribution.
Royce, who has toured with artists such as Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull, finished 2012 with his own 30-city U.S. tour that included sell out shows at Radio City Music Hall and NOKIA Theater. The "PHASE II Tour" picked up a nomination for The Super Tour award.
The Tenth Annual Premios Juventud will be presented in Miami, Florida on July 18. Between May 9 and 31 fans can go to Univision's website and vote to elect winners in all categories, but Image and Fashion. Previous award winners include RBD, Shakira, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Royce, who alone has previously won 12 awards.
Prince Royce can currently be seen alongside judges Paulina Rubio and Robert Tapia on "La Voz Kids," a U.S. Latin version of "The Voice" with kids as contestants.
