Prince Harry’s life has already changed drastically since the birth of his son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. His wife, Meghan Markle, gave birth to their bundle of joy on Monday.

During his engagement in The Hague for the Invictus Games in 2020, Prince Harry told attendees that his son gave him a new focus and goal in life. He also said that becoming a dad made him feel the loss of not having Princess Diana around.

Dennis van der Stroom, 31, had a conversation with the Duke of Sussex on Thursday. The former soldier, who hopes to compete for the Netherlands Invictus Games team, said that his exchange with the new dad was amazing and emotional.

“At a certain moment, we just got connected on this level,” van der Stroom said. “We talked about how my wife, Mireille, is 20 weeks pregnant with our first child, a girl, and he told me how special it was that his son has just been born.”

Throughout the course of their conversation, Prince Harry also told van der Stroom that he was amazed by the miracles in the world and how his son has made a lot of people happy. Prince Harry also said that he’s very happy with the fact that his son has been quiet ever since he was born.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and van der Stroom both experienced what it’s like to lose a mom. Prince Harry told the former soldier that missing a mother is like missing some kind of security.

“How you need that as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother. He said he meets a lot of people in his work who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother, or relatives and when he hears their story, as he heard my story, he said he doesn’t feel so alone,” recalled Van Stroom.

Prince Harry was just 12 years old when Princess Diana passed away in a fatal car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997. Following the Princess of Wales’ death, the Duke of Sussex struggled with his mental health.
