Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have come under fire for naming their daughter Lilibet, with one critic calling the name "rude" and "demeaning" to the Queen.
Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, who bears Her Majesty's surname, landed in California around 11:40 a.m. on Friday.
According to some royal experts, naming her after the Queen might be viewed as an olive branch to the Royal Family following recent scandals.
Angela Levin, a royal biographer, criticized the sentimental act, claiming it abuses "a very private nickname."
"I don't think it's a good idea - I think it's quite rude to Her Majesty Her Queen," she told Good Morning Britain per Page Six.
"It was a very private nickname from her husband who hasn't been dead for very long," Levin explained.
"Prince Charles would never dream of calling his mother Lilibet," she added.
Her grandfather, King George V, gave her the nickname since she couldn't pronounce her given name, Elizabeth, as a youngster.
Prince Philip, Her Majesty's husband, later adopted the name and was one of the few people regularly.
"We knew what it was, but it was his name - [the Duke of Edinburgh] wanted that name for her, it was a special name, I think it's quite demeaning, I really believe that," Levin said of the private name.
Harry did indicate to his grandmother that he intended to name his daughter after her, she added. "But I bet you he didn't say I'm going choose Lilibet,"
Later, the royal analyst told talkRADIO per an online tabloid that Harry's use of the name is a "gross breach of [the Queen's] privacy," and that he went about it in a "cunning" way.
A statement published on their Archewell website said: "On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."
Meghan and Harry have also given the baby's middle name, Diana, to Harry's "loving" late mother, Princess Diana.
The kid is in good health, weighing about 7 pounds and 11 ounces upon birth. According to Fox News, Meghan and her child seemed to be doing well and have settled into their luxury Montecito home.
Meghan opted for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital over Los Angeles' famed Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
