Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been pushed to the royal sidelines as claims from a royal biographer surface that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been demoted to the bottom of the Palace website. Phil Dampier noted in a query that the controversial couple is seemingly being slowly “eased out” of the royal picture.
According to The Sun, Harry and Meghan’s placements on the Royal website were just above disgraced Prince Andrew. Previously, the pair was halfway down the page of royal profiles just below senior royals and above the minor members of the Royal Family. Since Queen ELizabeth’s passing, Harry and Meghan fell through the ranks with Dampier hinting that King Charles III may be hesitant to grant any royal titles to the Sussex children.
Having quit their royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan are now considered non-working royals, which has put their children on the edge of even having any claim to Prince and Princess titles. "The King will want to make it clear that they are not working royals and can’t pose as semi-official royals,” Dampier said. "They are relegated to the bottom of the league table with disgraced Prince Andrew and at the moment there is no way of them climbing up it,” the biographer added.
The recent changes to the royal website were made to reflect more on the roles played by working royals rather than their order of succession. Another royal biographer, Angela Levin chimed in to say that the page shows absolutely what Harry and Meghan are doing in relation to their royal duties, which is “zero”. "I think putting Harry down there at the bottom is a sort of safety valve - you don't expect anything from them,” she said.
King Charles is reportedly working on slimming down the monarchy during his reign citing how the newly-crowned monarch does not wish the public to pay for an expanding Royal Family. Meanwhile, other Royal Family members namely Princess Alexandra, the Duke of Kent and the Duke of Gloucester along with the Queen’s cousin will remain on the page as they are still listed as working royals.
