A royal biographer said that Prince Harry and Prince William would have had a better relationship if the Duke of Sussex had married Kate Middleton, the wife of the Duke of Cambridge, instead of Meghan Markle.
When discussing her latest book, "The Palace Papers," royal expert Tina Brown commented on Prince Harry and Prince William's friendship. She believes that if the Duke of Sussex had married someone like his sister-in-law, Princess Diana's boys would have a better relationship now.
"It all depended on who Harry married. If Harry married somebody like Kate, I'm quite sure their relationship would have been preservable," Brown told Marie Claire.
Growing up, Prince William and Prince Harry were extremely close. Even when the Duke of Cambridge married Kate Middleton, they remained close.
The three royals were so close that they were termed "the royal trio" because of their closeness. Prince Harry was formerly referred to as his brother and sister-in-third law's wheel.
When Prince Harry met and married Meghan Markle, though, everything changed. Initially, royal fans expected the royal trio to become the Fab Four, but Princess Diana and Prince Charles' sons decided to keep their families separate.
"[Prince Harry] pursued such a different course now from William, going off to live an essentially Hollywood life...Meghan showed him another world that he found much more exciting. I understand it, but it's been very disruptive to their relationship," Brown said.
The two sons of Princess Diana and Prince Charles were reunited. Growing up, they were each other's rock. Prince Harry, on the other hand, was dissatisfied when his older brother advised him to take his courtship with Meghan Markle more slowly.
To be fair to Prince William, he held no malice toward his younger brother and merely desired what was best for him at the time. Before proposing to Kate Middleton, the Duke of Cambridge took his time. Because of the protracted wait for Prince William's proposal, the Duchess of Cambridge was teased and dubbed "Waity Katie" by many.
Only his brother, Prince William, knew how he approached dating and marriage. Unfortunately, that did not go down well with Prince Harry.
"It was largely down to Harry resenting his brother," royal correspondent Kate Nicholl said (via Daily Star).
Nicholl added: "Harry supported his brother from the outset with Kate and he felt very let down that he wasn't getting his brother's full, 100% support with his relationship with Meghan and things changed."
The two brothers are currently said to be at conflict. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn't get to see the Cambridges when they visited the Queen and Prince Charles in the United Kingdom last month before heading to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games because the family was on a ski trip in the French Alps at the time.
