Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's highly-anticipated Netflix docuseries may be released in December, though it has been previously stated that the show was being postponed until 2023 amid a backlash over the forthcoming season of Netflix hit “The Crown.”
Page Six reported that according to a source, the show will carry on, despite everything, and any issues surrounding the docuseries had nothing to do with the fifth season of “The Crown.” Netflix sources claimed that there were issues between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Netflix as the couple wanted to delete any incriminating statements they had made about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
While the particulars surrounding the upcoming project have been kept tightly under wraps, Meghan recently teased the series in her "Variety Power of Women" cover saying that it's nice to be able to trust someone with their story. To work with a seasoned director whose work she has long admired, even if it means it may not be the way they would have told it. The Duchess stated that they are trusting their story to someone else which means it will go through their lens, PEOPLE reported.
Harry and Meghan first signed their multi-year contract with Netflix in September 2020. Their production company, later dubbed Archewell Productions, would exclusively produce documentaries, docuseries, feature films, scripted shows, and children's programming for the famous platform, it was reported duting their deal.
The fifth season of "The Crown" was recently slammed by former British Prime Minister John Major who said its characterizations of his time in office was "damaging and malicious fiction" and a "barrel-load of nonsense". Major's remark came in response to speculation about one plotline of the new season. This reportedly saw Charles, then Prince of Wales, alluding that he wanted Major’s help for his mother's abdication.
Meanwhile, there's a chance that Harry and William will be reuniting again in December after the Queen Elizabeth's State Funeral. William will be traveling to the U.S. with Kate for the Earthshot Prize award. It has been siad that the Princess of Wales may have plans to extend an olive branch to Meghan hoping to reconcile the brothers amid their ongoing rift.
