Another icon gone too soon this year; According to TMZ, who broke the news first, Prince was found dead in his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday morning. The music world and fans around the world are shaken with the unexpected and heartbreaking news regarding the musician’s death. Many sources close to the singer, including his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told AP the music icon was found dead at his home Thursday in Chanhassen, confirming the sad news.

Former wife, Mayte García, reacted to the artist’s death by saying: “I can’t even think of words to describe how I’m feeling. We had a family. I am so sad; I am completely devastated.”

The couple met in 1990, when García was only a 16-year-old belly dancer. Sources say the two remained friends until she joined his band in 1996 and they got married on Valentine’s Day that same year. “When we met I was a virgin and had never been with anybody,” the “Kingmakers” star told Mirror. “I’d always been a very focused dancer and very protected. Prince was my first crush, and my first love, but we didn’t start to get serious until I turned 18.”

The Puerto Rican beauty quickly got pregnant but the couple experienced a tragedy when their son, Boy Gregory, died a week after being born from Pfeiffer syndrome. Later on, García got pregnant again but it ended with a miscarriage. “I believe a child dying between a couple either makes you stronger or it doesn’t. For me, it was very, very hard to move forward and for us as a couple I think it probably broke us,” she revealed.

Despite what the actress describes as an extremely “weird relationship,” she also says the two were madly in love in their own ways, and it was the Puerto Rican beauty who inspired the music legend to write the hit song, “Most Beautiful Girl in the World.”
