A young Prince Charles looks bored and sad during Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in June 1953. A throwback photo of the future king was recently unearthed to commemorate Her Majesty’s coronation anniversary.

In the black-and-white picture, Prince Charles is sitting in between his mom and grandmother, the Queen Mother. He is wearing an all-white ensemble, and his hair is brushed neatly.

But while the ceremony is going on, Prince Charles looks as though he couldn’t relate to what was happening. He placed his right hand on his right cheek, and he also has a sad look on his face.

Meanwhile, another photo of Prince Charles during the Queen’s coronation was uploaded on the royal family’s official Instagram account. In the snap, the dad of two is standing outside Westminster Abbey with the Queen, Prince Philip and Princess Anne.

The Queen is smiling from ear to ear in the photo, while the Duke of Edinburgh is looking at his wife lovingly. Prince Charles and Princess Anne both have confused looks on their faces, and their right hand is also raised.

Royal fans that saw the memorable picture from the Queen’s coronation couldn’t help but tease Prince Charles. One of them said that Prince Charles is still waiting and that it could take a while before he could have his own coronation.

Even though the Prince of Wales is the current heir to the throne, it is still unclear when he would take over the monarchy. The Queen, who is already 93 years old, doesn’t have any plans to abdicate.

Another royal fan focused his attention on Prince Philip and said that the dad of four is bursting with pride while looking at Her Majesty. The Queen was crowned at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. She also happens to be the longest-serving monarch in British history.

The Queen ascended the important role four months earlier than expected in February 1952 after her father, King George VI, passed away at the age of 56. Prince Charles is said to be the first royal child to witness his mother’s coronation as a sovereign.
