Prince Andrew is known as a loving father to both Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, his two daughters with former wife Sarah Ferguson. However, the royal made a funny mistake while posting a birthday greeting to his older child via Twitter.
Princess Beatrice was born on Aug. 8, 1988, which means that she just turned 31 recently. And just like all parents, Prince Andrew greeted his daughter on her special day.
But this time, the Duke of York tried to keep up with the times and posted his greetings on social media. “Happy Birthday Princess Beatrice. Thank you to everyone for the lovely birthday wishes!” Prince Andrew posted via his official Twitter account @TheDukeOfYork.
And just like any savvy social media user, Prince Andrew likewise uploaded four photos to go with his greetings. But eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted that something seems to be off with the fourth one.
Apparently, the fourth photo does not contain Princess Beatrice at all. Instead, it was a photo of Prince Andrew and his other daughter, Princess Eugenie, which was taken last year on her wedding day, when she married Jack Brooksbank.
Naturally, the blunder was too tempting to pass, and netizens were having a field day commenting on Prince Andrew’s mistake. “I never know who is Eugenie and who is Beatrice — thank god I’m not alone and their dad have the same problem,” one Twitter user joked.
It’s not clear if Prince Andrew posted the greeting personally or had an assistant do it for him. However, the royal must have been alerted by now since the erroneous tweet was already deleted and replaced with a new one with the correct photo this time.
Younger sister Princess Eugenie also greeted her older sister in a funny and sweet post. It even revealed what she calls Princess Beatrice in private.
“You have been bossing it since before I was born and continue to be the most wonderful person, friend and big sister... Happy Birthday to you Beabea!! Xx,” Princess Eugenie posted using her own Twitter account.
Meanwhile, mom Sarah Ferguson posted a simple greeting for her eldest daughter. “Happy Birthday dearest Beatrice,” the Duchess of York wrote.
