The “Pretty Little Liars” Christmas episode is fast approaching and following the series “We Love You To DeAth” fan appreciation Halloween special, we now known more than ever about the forthcoming holiday treat! Season 5 marks the first time the series has created a designated Christmas episode, fans have grown accustomed to “Pretty Little Liars” traditional Halloween episodes, but this year they are set to receive a Christmas miracle (or something like it) when ABC Family premieres “How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas” on December 9! The episode synopsis has finally be revealed, along with a new promo video and of course photos from the episode. The synopsis gives fans a better idea of how “A” is going to do his best Grinch impersonation and essentially ruin Christmas in Rosewood. Before “A” hatches his/her plans, the townsfolk of Rosewood are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the holiday and according to the synopsis are “full of merriment.” But not for our favorite “Pretty Little Liars,” Aria, Hanna, Emily and Spencer who “aren't feeling much holiday cheer after the loss of Mona and Spencer's murder charge looming over them.”
Spencer has been released on bail, in the Season 5 mid-season finale “Taking This One to The Grave,” Spencer was arrested after Detective Holbrook believed that Spencer was so desperate that to make Alison keep her amphetamine abuse a secret, she had to kill Bethany Young. However the Christmas episode may bring a ray of hope for Spencer’s case when “an opportunity presents itself with the chance to get evidence to clear Spencer's name.” The Liars team up with Toby, Caleb, Ezra, and Paige in order to “devise a plan to get justice for Mona and finally bring Alison down.” And if you think this sounds to good to be true, you may be wrong because the episode synopsis teases, “If the plan is successful, it could be a very Merry Christmas after all,” and every good PLL fan knows that the Liars and their bed buddies deserve a good holiday break. In the midst of the Liars search to free Spencer Alison is on a journey all her own. The “How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas’ synopsis revealed “Alison gets a glimpse at the past, present and future by a ghostly presence.”
Now it’s spoiler time! Here is a run down of everything we know about the “Pretty Little Liars” Christmas episode so far! Show runner Marlene King has described the Christmas episode as “a horror with epic romance.” Speaking of romance, it has been revealed that Ezra, Toby, Caleb and even Paige will all be sporting a particularly adorable pair of Santa boxers. In addition to the boxers, the Liars and their partners will all be attending a glamorous and beautiful Ice Ball thrown by the DiLaurentis family. That’s not the last fans will see of the DiLaurentis family, because there will reportedly be a flashback scene in “How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas” featuring Jessica DiLaurentis and “Little Alison.” Lots of friendly and not so friendly faces will reportedly be home for the holidays, as Cece Drake, and the ghost of Mona are set to appear in the episode.
“Pretty Little Liars” will be channeling two Christmas classics with the upcoming episode, in addition to the Grinch inspired title, Mona will be portraying the ghost of Christmas past, present and future, taking Alison on a wild ride. That won’t be the only role Mona plays in the episode as she reportedly leaves a clue behind for the Liars to help them on their question for not only vengeance against her murderer, but also to clear Spencer’s name. And while all of this Christmas chaos unfolds, there will be some happy moments, on July 18th Marlene King tweeted, “Let it snow let it snow. There's nowhere to go. Family is far. But friends are near. Table for eight my dear. #PLLChristmas.” This is most likely in reference to the highly anticipated dinner scene, Marlene also stated "I've seen it about 20 times. The "dinner scene" still makes me laugh and cry."
Wow! That’s a lot to take in, be sure to watch the “How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas” promo video below and also let us know what part of the Christmas episode you are most excited to see!
