GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney must win, according to history, Ohio to secure his place in the White House on Nov. 6.

According to newly released CNN/ORC International poll, President Obama leads Romney by three points, 50 to 47 percent.

"The race in the Buckeye State has remained essentially the same throughout October, with all three CNN/ORC polls taken in October showing President Obama at 50%-51% and all three showing Governor Romney at 46%-47%," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said in a statement.

The poll revealed that 63 percent of Ohioans have already voted or plan to vote early for Obama and 35 percent for Romney.

Obama leads Romney among women by 16 points.

The president had three events in Ohio today and urged voters to help him win reelection.

"If you're willing to work with me, and knock on some doors with me, and make some phone calls with me, and turn out for me, we'll win Ohio," the president said. "We'll win this election. I need you, Ohio -- to make sure their voices are heard, to make sure your voices are heard. We've come too far to grow fainthearted. Now is the time to keep pushing. We'll renew those bonds that tie us together as a people. We'll reaffirm that spirit that makes the United States of America the greatest nation on Earth."

"The president's prospects are boosted by a strong showing among white women, support in the northern parts of the state as well as the Columbus area, and a big margin among early voters," Holland said. "Romney's chances in the state rest on white men and a good showing in the central part of the state as well as the southwest corner, home to Cincinnati and Dayton."

According to RealClear Politics average, the president leads Romney by 2.4 points in Ohio, with nine polls since Oct. 23 showing the president leading his challenger.
