Each year, the Dominican Republic celebrates its artists with an award called Premios Soberano, the biggest recognition that honors the best of the local music, TV, radio, theater, classical arts and movies. This year, the award show is broadening its specter and remembering one of the most iconic Dominicans that excelled nationally and internationally in the fashion industry: the late Oscar de la Renta, who died in October 2014. After all, fashion is a big component of the show, with a celebrated red carpet that showcases the best of the Dominican designers.
Besides being remembered and honored during the actual ceremony, De la Renta’s designs will be also seen on the red carpet, with an exhibition of 13 models donning the late designer’s most memorable creations from his different collections. This year also brings new guests of honor: Manolo Cardona, Sergio George , Sisi , Juli án Gil, Sara Corrales , Gabriel Valenzuela, Arap Bethk e, Charlie Zaa and Christian Meier. These celebs will walk alongside their Dominican counterparts like Dascha Polanco, Solly Durán and Henry Santos, and more locally known personalities.
Premios Soberano is expected to be a huge party like only Dominicans know how to throw. There are over 70 categories awarding the best of the arts in the Dominican Republic, and the show will have amazing choreography, performances and acts. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the National Theater Eduardo Brito in Santo Domingo, and will be broadcasted live by Telemicro, channel 5. However, you can watch the show online HERE starting with the Red Carpet at 7:00 PM EDT.
