Miami is the hottest city right now with the most popular Latin celebrities gathered up at the BankUnited Center in the University of Miami for the biggest party celebrating our music: The Billboard Latin Music Awards, also known as “Premios Billboard.” Some of our favorite celebrities walked the red carpet donning their best ensembles. We saw a sexy Gaby Espino, a dashing Fernanda Castillo from Telemundo’s “El Señor de los Cielos,” our favorite male actor, also from the same telenovela, Rafael Amaya, the newest kid on the block, Luis Coronel, and the woman who never seems to get old: Giselle Blondet.
The show surprised us with duet performances of the most unlikely singers paired together in unforgettable numbers. Lucero with Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga , Yandel with Victor Manuelle , Alejandro Fernández with his daughter Camila , Daddy Yankee with Don Omar , Alejandra Guzmán with Gerardo Ortiz, Kany García, Ha*Ash, and Fanny Lu with pianist Arthur Hanlon, and many more. But the night’s biggest surprise was Juan Gabriel. Not only did he perform with Paty Cantú, Juanes and Alejandro Fernández, but he won six awards including the Premio Estrella or Star Award.
Marco Antonio Solís was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Alejandro Fernández was handed the Hall of Fame Award and Daddy Yankee and Don Omar went home with the Industry Leader Award.
