A 23-year-old Milwaukee was shot early Sunday at the Potawatomi Bingo Casino following an alleged argument with her boyfriend. According to police reports, the woman's brother attempted to intervene in an effort to solve the dispute. The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m., with the casino shutting down until 9 a.m., the examiner reported. Details of the incident remain scarce.
Milwuakee Police Sgt. Mark Stanmeyer said a 27-year-old was taking into custody following the shooting. No charges have been filed and the man's name has not been released, the Clarion Ledger reported. The woman was taken to Foredert Hospital. Her injuries are non-life threatening and there were no other injuries reported, according to NBC News. Police have yet to release further details, but the casino released a statement addressing the matter.
"We are thankful no one was hurt more seriously and that the situation was contained quickly," the statement read. "Response by local law enforcement as well as our security team was outstanding. Potawatomi Bingo Casino will continue to cooperate and assist throughout investigation into this extremely isolated event."
