The life of "El Rey Del Jaripeo" will be depicted in the bio series "Por Siempre Joan Sebastian." The late singer will be portrayed by his surviving sons José Manuel Figueroa and Julián Figueroa at different stages of his life. Carla Estrada recently reavealed to LatinTimes that the series is not 100% factual, but it is heavily inspired on the most dramatic moments of his life. "Por Siempre Joan Sebastian" is a mini-series that follows the life and career of legendary Mexican singer/songwriter Joan Sebastian honoring his accomplishments just a year after his untimely death. His love of life will be shared along with his passion for his music and his fans. This story will pay tribute to the "people's poet," as he is affectionately known, giving audience a unique look at the life of the singer as a child, his many struggles growing up, and his meteoric rise to fame. Jose Manuel and Julian Figueroa, Sebastian's sons, will play the singer at different stages of his life. Livia Brito will play the role of Maribel Guardia, one of Sebastian's true loves.
A touching story of a poet who never surrendered in the face of adversity, the mini-series takes us back to the 1950s to the small Mexican town of Juliantla, where Sebastian was born and, ultimately, died last year. The story features Sebastian as a young man migrating to Chicago to pursue his dream, the women who inspired him, and how he launched a successful recording career that would make him one of the top-selling Grammy Award-winning artists whose songs will live forever.
