The Minister of Children Affairs in Iceland has resigned following the revelation that when she was 22-years-old, she became pregnant with a 15-year-old boy's baby.

Now 58, Ásthildur Lóa Thórsdóttir disclosed that she began a relationship with the baby's father when he attended a church group where she was a counselor. In Iceland, at the time, 14 was the age of consent, which meant the relationship would have been legal, if Thórsdóttir were not his counselor.

"It's been 36 years, a lot of things change in that time and I would definitely have dealt with these issues differently today," Thórsdóttir told RUV.

Eirík Ásmundsson was present when their child was born and during the first year. When Thórsdóttir met the man she is now married to, she restricted Ásmundsson's access to the child, though he claims he made child support payments for 18 years.
