A police officer has been accused of killing his daughter before taking his own life following a heated argument with his wife in North Las Vegas on Sunday, July 17.
The unidentified suspect, an off-duty North Las Vegas officer, was reportedly married and lived with his wife and their two children. The officer and his wife reportedly figured in a heated confrontation on Sunday, July 17, before things took a tragic turn.
As their argument escalated, the suspect, in a fit of rage, allegedly pulled out his gun and tried to shoot the woman. Following this, the suspect turned his gun toward his minor daughter and shot her to death. After gunning his daughter to death, the suspect then turned the firearm towards himself and took his own life, KIRO 7 reported.
During the struggle, the couple's son also tried to intervene. The woman and the son, who both also suffered gunshot wounds in the ordeal, managed to escape the scene with non-life-threatening injuries and quickly called for help. Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department subsequently responded to the scene and found the woman and her teen son with gunshot injuries. After the authorities entered the residence, they discovered the minor girl and the suspect dead at the scene.
The police later transported the two bodies to the Clark County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. The coroner's office will release the identification and the cause/manner of death of both the daughter and the suspect in due time.

In a similar but unrelated incident, an Indian man has been accused of bludgeoning his two daughters to death with a hammer and assaulting his own wife before proceeding to take his own life by jumping from the roof of his apartment building. The incident happened in the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh state, India on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021.
Jhankar Bhaskar allegedly killed his young daughter Pari, 7, and toddler son Anshu, 3, by attacking them with a hammer in their apartment sometime after midnight on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021. After killing his children, he attacked his wife Sukrita, 28, and proceeded to kill himself by hurling himself off the roof of a six-story apartment complex, Latin Times reported.
The authorities were shortly notified about the violent incident and a team of police officers rushed to the area.
The officers reportedly recovered a three-page suicide note from the crime scene. In the letter, Bhaskar stated that he committed the brutal act since his wife constantly argued with him and suspected his involvement in the recent death of a stenographer who worked in his office. The stenographer Santosh Kanwar was found dead near a railway station about a month before the alleged murder-suicide.
