Nintendo has announced the "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" sales. Seems that both games have had a very good weekend release, bringing in over 4 million copies worldwide in just two days -- not that this surprises us at all. As the game launched globally in Japan, Europe and the U.S. on Saturday, this number reflects how many units were purchased by the end of Sunday October 13. This is big news because no other Pokemon title has been released globally, and the number of copies sold show the success and popularity of the Pokemon franchise.

While no other Pokemon games have been released globally, it's difficult to make an accurate comparison of old titles sold versus "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y." Nintendo did announce, however, that if regional data is combined and compared, "Pokemon X and Y" is easily the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS title of all time. That's a bold statement but again we are not surprised. Additionally, Nintendo also gave some insight into lifetime total sales of other games in the Pokemon franchise.

"Pokemon Diamond and Pearl" are the best performers as of now, having sold 17.63 million units worldwide, then followed by "Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire" having sold 16.22 million units worldwide. "Pokemon Black and White" come in third at 15.42 million units then "Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver" having sold 12.67 million units and "Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen" coming in last having sold 12 million units.

"Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" sales are up 70 percent compared to "Pokemon Black and White" so it's safe to assume that the game could surpass all the previous sales and become number one.

Have you bought "Pokemon X and Y" and if not will you be buying the new Pokemon game?
