"Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened" will air on Oct. 19 on both Cartoon Network and the UK channel CITV. "Pokémon the Movie Genesect and the Legend Awakened," will give fans the story of MewTwo vs. a prehistoric creature, along with a preview of the new series, "Pokémon the Series: XY." As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the feature-length film will be set like a disaster film, featuring multiple Genesects attempting to destroy everything in their path, they have invaded the big city to wreak havoc. The heroes in this narrowing tale of cataclysm doom are Ash, Pikachu, who come to the rescue when the Genesect’s powerful leader, Red Genesect, confronts Mewtwo!
Ninetendo released a full synopsis of the film writing, “Five Genesect have invaded the big city and threaten its power supply, attracting the attention of the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, whose motives are unknown. Ash, Pikachu, and friends must come to the rescue when the Genesect’s powerful leader, Red Genesect, confronts Mewtwo! The movie features the Mega-Evolved form of Mewtwo, Mega Mewtwo, which appears for the first time in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.”
The film is directed by Kunihiko Yuyama. It is the 16th Pokémon anime movie and the third and the final arc of the Best Wishes series. The film's setting is based on New York City, much like the Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 games, with Central Park as a key location. Director Kunihiko Yuyama stated that the location and NYC setting was chosen in order to contrast a modern city with the wild and ancient nature of Genesect.
