PlayStations new service PS Now beta is currently open and on-going on the PlayStation 3 between only a selected few in the U.S. While the beta is under NDA (non-disclosure agreement), that hasn’t stopped the leaks of details and features spreading all over the internet. A user on GameFAQs posted an off-screen video showing him demo the PS Now service and also posted his impressions of the service thus far.
The GameFAQs user reported that although he had “craptastic” internet connection, only 5Mbps Downstream and 1 Mbps Upstream, he was still able to use the service. The user described that with poor service you could see compressions throughout the game but with a proper connection the game you stream looks like it is running from a disc. He also shared his multiplayer experience with “Dead or Alive 5” which he claims he had no problems whatsoever.
The GameFAQs user also releases some details about the PlayStation Now UI saying, “It’s more like the PS4 which runs a lot smoother than the PS3 store.” He also assures us that the UI runs very smoothly. Although the video posted by the user was removed, it was attained that trophies for games do exist and will be stored on the Sony server.
Meanwhile the user has updated his list of impressions and has revealed that even with family members using other streaming services, such as Netflix, on the same internet PS Now still works seamlessly. He also ends with saying the quality of the game is very similar to that of the disc. “The game playing off the service is the game playing off the disc… Meaning, 60 fps game on disc is a 60 fps game running of Playstation Now,” wrote the user.
