Playstation 4 fans have taken to their Twitter accounts to express their frustration with the news of Microsoft's rigid plans for used games.
One super-fan, Pete "famousmortimer" Dodd, decided to organize a virtual mob. He started a thread on a major gaming message board asking fellow gamers to go to Twitter and tweet messages to the executives at Sony, using the hashtag #PS4NoDRM.
Dodd was shocked by the number of people who responded on Twitter using the hashtag. Dodd Told Kotaku's website, "It's much larger than I ever imagined, honestly thought the post would go about 2 pages."
NeoGaffer calculated that there were close to 14,000 tweets using the hashtag #PS4NoDRM. The campaign has reached multiple news sites and it has also reached the big wigs over at Sony.
"I know my colleagues might not appreciate me saying this," said Sony biz dev manager Shahid Kamal Ahmad, "but I've rather enjoyed being Twitter bombed by passionate fans recently."
"Humbled by the outpouring of passionate PlayStation fans and their willingness to talk to us directly," SCEA producer Nick Accordino wrote on Twitter. "Please know that we hear you."
"This is why I love PlayStation fans - the passion bucket overflows," Sony's head of hardware marketing John Koller said. "I love passionate #PlayStation Fans!!," Sony Worldwide Studios product boss Scott Rohde added.
The most notable statement comes from Sony's Adam Boyes who tweeted, "imho it's working pretty well, much better than a few letters would. We're seeing the message loudly, and it's immediate."
As production for the PS4 may be close to being done it may be too late for Sony to change anything so what will happen if Sony premiers it's PS4 with heavy restrictions on used games?
