The fifth installment of the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" series is now on uncertain terms. The film was supposed to arrive July 10 of 2015. Disney said Tuesday that the film "Dead Men Tell No Tales" now has an unset arrival date. The shooting date for the Jerry Bruckheimer film is still set for fall 2014, with many of the series' former stars returning for a reprisal role. The studio hopes to get the film out by 2016, but did not confirm any speculation. The decision comes after the painful failure of its most recent film, also starring Johnny Depp, "The Lone Ranger." A person close to production told Variety magazine that among the reasons for the film's delay was the script, which still needs to be reworked, which will hinder the shooting of the film.

Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg, Norwegian filmmakers whose recent "Kon-Tiki" received a nomination for best foreign language film at the 2013 Academy Awards, will be spearheading the production of the film. The series is one of Disney's highest-grossing films, racking up $3.73 billion total. The 2006 movie "Dead Man's Chest," the third in the series, was the only one of the films to break $1 billion on its own. The current Bruckheimer-Depp project, "The Long Ranger," was a disaster for the studio as the $215 million bugeted film only grossed $243 million globally. Critics were harsh on the film, with many agreeing that it was the biggest flop of 2013.

Though "Pirates" won't be on Disney's crammed list of summer flicks in 2015, it is still set to roll along with other major projects, which the source close to Disney also told Variety played a part in delaying the release. That summer the studio is set to release Pixar's "Inside Out," Marvel's "Avengers" sequel and "Ant-Man"; and the first "Star Wars" film since Disney bought LucasFilms.
