On Friday, it was announced that Piper Perabo got engaged. The 36-year-old "Covert Affairs" actress said yes to a proposal from her director-producer boyfriend Stephen Kay, People Magazine reported. It is unknown how long the actress had been dating Kay, but it is likely that their romance began on the set of "Covert Affairs" where he is the director.
Besides directing a number of episodes of the spy series, New Zealand-born Kay, is also a co-exec producer of the show. He is also responsible for episodes of "Sons of Anarchy," "Friday Night Lights" and "The Shield," plus the Sly Stallone film "Get Carter." Before taking on the directorial role, Kay did a little acting, landing appearances on "General Hospital" and "Party of Five." He has been previously linked to Teri Hatcher.
Perabo's big break came in 2000 with the movie Coyote Ugly which also starred Maria Bello and Bridget Moynahan. Her subsequent films have included "Lost and Delirious," "Cheaper by the Dozen," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," "The Prestige," "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," and "Looper." She was cast as Annie Walker in 2010, the lead role on the USA Network series "Covert Affairs," for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
No additional details surrounding the engagement were immediately available, but at least by the time she decides to walk down the aisle she'll be in great shape, since she's not only an actress, but as a stunt person as well, so she works hard to keep in shape for the role. She told USA Today in 2011, "I know that when I'm watching an action sequence and they cut away and they show the hero from behind for the rest of the fight scene, I think, 'Oh, the actor just left and now we're watching a stunt person.' It takes me out of it. I'm willing to suffer the bumps and bruises to make the show really great."
