In what is being deemed as an urgent and important situation, specific Kool-Aid drink mixes are being recalled by their parent company after it was discovered that a certain batch of drinks may contain small amounts of metal or glass.
Costco Wholesale has issued a blanket recall of the Kool-Aid Tropical Punch Mix, with the size of 82.5 oz. containers, due to the presence of foreign substances in the mix, including small amounts of glass and metal that were accidentally introduced during the manufacturing phase, WRIC reported.
The affected batches of Kool-Aid Tropical Punch Mix have the best-by dates of Aug. 31, 2023 and Sept. 1, 2023, which you can find printed at the bottom of the container, according to CBS affiliate News19.
Costco customers who have been affected by the recall can expect a full refund when they return the recalled products to their store. Other Kool-Aid products appear to not have the problem of foreign contaminants that the Kool-Aid Tropical Punch Mix currently has.
In related news, Stater Bros., a grocery store chain that can be found in Southern California, is also recalling the Kool-Aid Tropical Punch Mix, which they carry in 8-quart containers in their stores. A statement from the company clarifies their concerns for the product.
“The company discovered the issue during an internal review at the manufacturing facility,” the company said. “There have been no consumer complaints and no reports of illness or injury related to this issue to date.”
The Kraft Heinz Company, which creates the Kool-Aid products, has not made a statement as to how widespread the recall will become, or how the contamination of the product happened in the first place.
Kraft Heinz state that customers are free to ask questions and complaints about the product using the telephone number (855) 713-9237.
