House Republicans' congratulatory post for newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel quickly became the subject of widespread mockery on social media, with users ridiculing the image used in the announcement.

On Thursday, the Senate confirmed Kash Patel as the new FBI director in a 51-49 vote. Patel, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump and a vocal critic of the FBI, was backed by most Republicans, while Democrats and two GOP senators—Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski—opposed his nomination.

Patel's confirmation followed his rise from federal prosecutor to congressional aide and later a national security official during Trump's first term.

Shortly after Patel's confirmation, House Republicans posted an announcement on X (formerly Twitter) featuring a graphic congratulating him on his new role.

The image quickly drew ridicule from social media users, with many mocking its low-quality appearance.

Some compared it to a college football recruitment post, with one user joking that Patel looked like a "2-star recruit that just committed to play football at Florida State." Others took it further, quipping that the comparison was an insult to both two-star recruits and Florida State.

"Definitely a kicker," another user wrote, while another chimed in, "Looks like a walk-on."

Despite the online backlash, the Republican Party and its supporters continued to celebrate Patel's confirmation, viewing it as a victory in their efforts to overhaul the FBI.
