Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers will host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night at the Staples Center in LA as Bryant tries to get back into old form. The Lakers star returned from rehabilitating his torn Achilles on Sunday night but looked rusty, scoring just nine points in a 106-94 home loss to the Toronto Raptors. The 15-time All-Star went just 2 of 9 from the field in 28 minutes, during which he also committed eight turnovers. "My rhythm is completely out of sync," Bryant said after the loss to Toronto. "But this is a start, and I guess a start is good." Coach Mike D'Antoni told ESPN.com that Bryant would have to "work through his issues", adding, "He's coming back from a tough injury, and he's coming off eight months ... he is human, I think. We have to understand it's going to take the other players around him. It's going to be a little painful at first, but the biggest thing is just getting everybody else to step up and take care of him, and we did not do that."

The 11-9 Suns have remained in early contention for a playoff spot in what has been a surprisingly good, if streaky, year thus far. They've notched two wins over the Portland Blazers, who've looked dominant, and another over the Houston Rockets, but they've also dropped two games to Sacramento and one each to Utah and Brooklyn, two mediocre squads. On Friday, Phoenix also beat Toronto 106-97 in what was their sixth win in the last nine games. They'll try to improve upon their 5-6 record on the road as they kick off a three-game home stand.
