Philadelphia Man Shot Dead After Trying to Carjack an Off-Duty Officer: Police

A Philadelphia man was shot and killed after allegedly trying to steal a car from an off-duty police officer, according to a report.

The incident unfolded Thursday night at the intersection of Willits Road and Holme Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, Fox 29 News reported.

Around 11:30 pm, witnesses noted that an unidentified man may have emerged from a silver Kia and parked behind the officer's car in an attempt to steal the vehicle.

A bullet hole was seen in the officer's side window, though he did not appear to be hurt.

The man was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
