The cast of "Jane the Virgin," as well as the show's network, the CW, were thrilled when they nabbed the 2015 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy. Will they have the same luck in 2016? The popular show, starring Gina Rodriguez and Jaime Camil, is once again nominated, but this time for Favorite Network TV Comedy against "Modern Family," "The Big Bang Theory," "New Girl" and more. But the talented cast of "Jane the Virgin" are not the only Latinos we spotted in the nominations list.
The soon-to-be Mrs. Manganiello, Sofia Vergara, has nabbed two nominations: Favorite Comedic Movie Actress and Favorite Comedic TV Actress. Michelle Rodriguez is up for Favorite Action Movie Actress; whereas, Jennifer Lopez, is nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress against Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet.
Not only is "Jane the Virgin" nominated in the television category, but so is its leading gal Gina Rodriguez for Favorite Comedic TV Actress. "Grey's Anatomy" star Sara Ramirez is nominated for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress. Christina Milian is nominated for Favorite Actress In A New TV Series for her role in "Grandfathered." And the cast of "Devious Maids" is up for Favorite Cable Drama. Meanwhile, one of the show's stars, Ana Ortiz, is nominated for Favorite Cable TV Actress.
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are both in the fight for the title of Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Pop Artist. Miguel, who is of Mexican descent, is up for Favorite R&B Artist. Nonetheless, our beloved girls of Fifth Harmony have nabbed the Favorite Group nomination against One Direction, Maroon 5, Foo Fighters and more.
The People's Choice Awards, which not only honors TV, movies and music, is also noting the most interactive and popular stars on the Internet. Shakira, for example, is nominated for Favorite Social Media Celebrity, against stars such as Beyonce and Justin Bieber. Lele Pons and Brent Rivera, who are also Latino stars, are nominated for Favorite Social Media Star.
The 2016 People's Choice Awards will air on Jan. 6, 2016. Check out the full list of nominees and vote for your favorite stars on the award show official website.
