Actress Penélope Cruz has confirmed that she is expecting her second child.

According to the Daily Mail, Cruz announced the pregnancy through her publicist. She wanted to explain why she could attend the Goya Awards in Spain, where she is up for Best Leading Actress award. Apparently she did not want to take the long flight to Madrid being 4 ½ months pregnant her publicist told broadcaster RTVE.

This will be the second child for Cruz and her husband Javier Bardem, who is best known for his roles in the latest Bond film "Skyfall" and "No Country For Old Men" for which he won an Academy award in 2007. They have a son named Leonardo who is two years old. There was a rumor in the summer of 2012 that Cruz was expecting but the rumor was found out to be false.

Cruz and Bardem knew each other for years before beginning to date in 2007. They were married in July 2010 in small ceremony in the Bahamas. The couple are very private and do not talk much about their personal life, especially when it comes to their son.

"I want my son and my kids -- if I have more -- to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible," Cruz told Vogue magazine in May 2011.

Cruz, who has many movie credits such as "Blow" and "Vicky Christina Barcelona" (in which she starred with Bardem and won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award), was very emotional when it came to the subject of being a first time mother. She also spoke about this in Vogue Magazine.

"From the first second, you feel so much love," Cruz says. "It is a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and give you gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment -- when you see that face, you are transformed forever."
