Paul Walker has received countless memorials and tributes from people all over the world following his tragic death in a car crash on Saturday November 30. However, perhaps the most touching of all has been the naming of a street in his honor in Chile in recognition of his hmanitarian work. Pelluhue is a small town in central Chile. The town's mayor, Nelson Leal, has decided to name of one of the streets in his town after ther "Fast and the Furious" actor. "I heard the news of the tragic accident and the idea immediately occurred to me, after which I presented it to the municipal council the first chance I had," said the mayor.
The initiative emerged in light of Walker's visit to the town following the catastrophic earthquake that rocked the community on the 27th of February 2010. Paul Walker traveled to the remote township to offer his support following the horrific quake. "I met him after the earthquake because I was outside the town, but when one sees that people of that level fly the entirety of the continent to help, it has to be recognized," said Leal. The actor proviced aid through his Walker Reach Out Worldwide, created in 2010 following the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
It is tragic that the actor was killed after an event raising funds for this very foundation and its efforts to aid the victims of the Phillippines Hurricane Hayan. Paul Walker's visited the Chilean township various times following the earthquake on surfing trips. The street's innauguration will take place between the 11th and 13th of December. According to the mayor, he will be in touch with the American Embassy to request a representative of the actor be present at the dedication ceremony.
