A man from Florida who was previously charged for sexual battery before he was 18 was shot and arrested on Wednesday after kidnapping a therapist and sexually abusing her multiple times during her confinement.

Tzvi Allswang, a 20-year-old man from Palm Beach, Florida, was visited by a therapist who was there to conduct a therapy session with Allswang. However, when she tried to leave the house after their session ended, Allswang put her in a bear hug and told her that she was not allowed to leave, according to the New York Post.

Taking the therapist’s phone and duct-taping her hands, Allswang proceeded to sexually assault and rape her throughout the night, refusing to let her go even as she reportedly begged him to do so. Allswang was also sending messages from the therapist’s phone in an attempt to throw off the scent of her loved ones, CBS 12 reported.

Her mother “received a strange text from [her daughter] and the message that she was pulled over by the police and that she was being taken to have a breath test done. At around 12:30 a.m., she received another strange message from [her daughter] that she was being taken to a hotel by the police for the night,” the police report said.

The victim’s mother called authorities to ask them to do a welfare check in Allswang’s home to see if she was there. When the police arrived, Allswang reportedly threatened the therapist with a kitchen knife to keep her quiet while authorities searched his home.

“Entry was made into the residence at 9:39 a.m. and was systematically checked for people and when they reached the master bedroom door, it was also locked. This door was breached at 9:45 a.m. and at 9:46 a.m. they located Tzvi holding [the victim] hostage by a knife to her throat inside the master closet,” the police report said.

After refusing to cooperate with the police in releasing the therapist, Allswang was shot in the head by a police officer. This gave the victim an opportunity to break free, and both her and Allswang were taken to a nearby hospital.

The therapist was treated for injuries in her head and body, while Allswang appeared to have survived the shooting, with minimal reported damage to his person.

Allswang will be charged with attempted murder, sexual battery, and kidnapping, among other charges. He is currently being held without bond.

The police officer who shot Allswang was put on administrative leave.
